At a meet limited to 3 men’s and 3 women’s events, middle distance athletes took to the track last night in Princeton, New Jersey in an effort to keep their Olympic dreams alive.
Looking at the results, you’ll notice some athletes were triumphant by a mere hundredths of a second while other came heart-achingly closer to either an Olympic Standard or an US Olympic Trials qualifier.
With a few dozen fans in the stands and the usual characters (athletes/coaches) taking one last crack at it, you could not get a sense of us vs the standard. Some races were rabbited but came up just a bit short (1500’s, 800’s) while the Steeple’s were not rabbited and led to two very strong performances (8:32 and 9:29).
In addition to images from the meet, I had set up one light to create a few portraits of athletes from each event. Here is a photo of the setup courtesy of Shane Ford (@shaneford14) I’ll be sharing the portraits on my Instagram account (@davidbracetty).
Here are a few of the images I captured last night with the help of photographer Greg Pammer. If you’d like to see more images, here is a gallery of 96 images from the Princeton Qualifier.
